A Letter From Makeba
Manifested Soul was born from pain, not from a plan.
I did not wake up one day and decide I wanted to empower women. I wanted to empower myself, and I wanted to bring every woman with me who was ready to walk.
There are seasons in a woman’s life when she realizes she has spent so much time being who everyone needed her to be that she is no longer sure where she ends and all of those expectations begin.
I know something about that.
I know what it is to be strong because there was no other option. To carry responsibility well. To keep moving. To love people deeply. To make sacrifices that felt necessary at the time.
I am a Black woman who knows what it is to move through life without the benefit of every privilege. I know what it feels like not to be chosen and to somehow turn that into, you’re not good enough. I know what it is to reach for love and be judged for the journey that brought you there. I see it. I feel it. I am still her.
And I also know what it is to eventually ask a different question:
What about me?
Manifested Soul was born somewhere inside that question.
Not because I had everything figured out. I didn’t.
It came from reflection. From paying attention to my own patterns. From being willing to tell myself the truth, even when that truth was uncomfortable. From realizing that choosing yourself is not always loud or dramatic. Sometimes it is simply deciding that your needs, your voice, your peace, and your life deserve your consideration too.
I wanted to create a space where women could have those conversations without being told who they should become.
A place where reflection could be honest.
Where growth did not require pretending.
Where accountability and compassion could exist in the same room.
Where women could hear themselves think.
Manifested Soul is not about having all the answers. It is about becoming more willing to ask the questions that matter.
What have I been carrying?
What have I accepted?
What do I want now?
What deserves another look?
What am I finally ready to choose?
You do not have to arrive here with a plan.
You do not have to prove that you are healing, growing, becoming, or doing anything particularly well.
You are allowed to simply begin where you are.
Every step I take forward, I am reaching back for a hand to bring with me. I can walk alongside every woman here, and I especially understand what Black women carry. I want us to build something meaningful together. Something rooted in honesty, care, accountability, and real connection.
My hope is that somewhere inside these reflections, conversations, journals, stories, and shared experiences, you find something that helps you see yourself a little more clearly.
And perhaps, in time, choose yourself a little more fully.
I’m glad you found your way here.
